Fubara Vows To Compensate Families Of Tanker Explosion

Fubara said this when he visited the scene of the fire disaster on Saturday in the company of the Rivers State Commissioner of Police, Olatunji Disu, and the Director of the State Security Service.

Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara has promised to compensate victims of the fire disaster that killed five people and razed over 70 vehicles along the Eleme axis of the East-West Road in Rivers State.

Council Poll Begins In Oyo

Residents are beginning to troop out to exercise their franchise as council poll begin across Oyo State.

The exercise is the second under Governor Seyi Makinde led administration in the last five years.

When The Nation visited some parts of Ibadan, the Oyo State capital city, it was observed that the restriction of movement was in force, although some few vehicles could still be seen on the road.


Nigerian Police Declare 21 Notorious Cultists Wanted In Anambra

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, who made this known in a statement issued on Saturday in Awka, the state capital, said that the cultists who were arrested during a series of intelligence-led manhunts across the state had been detained on the orders of the Commissioner of Police, Aderemi Adeoye.

The Anambra State Police Command has said that its operatives have arrested no fewer than 16 notorious cultists involved in a series of killings and cult-related crimes in the state, while 21 others have been declared wanted.


Ondo ADC Elects Governorship Candidate

A legal practitioner, Mr Myson Nejo, has emerged as the candidate of the African Democratic Congress for the governorship election in Ondo State coming up on November 16, 2024.

In the primary election of the party, held on Friday, in Akure the state capital, Nejo won the poll with a total of 114,911 votes while his co-contender, Chief Dayo Falana scored 9,651 votes.

Earlier, the Chairman of the 2024 ADC Governorship Primary Election Committee in Ondo State, Mr Eyiowuawi Abdulrazak explained that the party adopted a direct mode of primary election to pick its governorship candidate by voting at the 203 wards across the 18 local government areas of the state.


TETFUND Stops Use Of Vendors For Training Programmes

The Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) has said part of the reforms it carried out was to eliminate the use of vendors and contracts in its academic and professional staff training interventions.

The agency said contracts were no longer used for its content-based interventions except in infrastructural projects where the procurement of goods, tools, laboratory equipment and others are needed.

Executive Secretary of TETFund, Sonny Echono, stated this during an interview with newsmen on the sidelines of the 2nd Registrars’ Workshop and 75th Business Meeting of the Association of Registrars of Nigerian Universities (ARNU) in Abuja.
