If Not For Our Struggles, People Like Wike Couldn’t Have Been Chairman, Gov, Minister - Shehu Sani

Shehu Sani, a former senator, has said that individuals such as Wike would not have served as local government chairman, governor, or minister today if not for their efforts to end the military rule in Nigeria.

Speaking on Channels TV's Sunday Politics, Sani addressed Wike's criticism of his Senate tenure and contributions to democracy. Sani, who represented Kaduna Central in the 8th National Assembly, accused Wike of deliberately scheduling his speeches last at events to avoid immediate responses.

Sani said that next time they attend an event, since he knows Wike's strategy of speaking last and closing the meeting so everyone goes home, he won't allow it to happen again. He promised that Wike will surely get a reply.

Although Sani described Wike as a good friend, he expressed a preference for replying to him in person rather than through the media.

Sani highlighted his and others' struggle to end Nigeria's military dictatorship, suggesting that Wike and others have benefited from these efforts.

He stated, "But nobody can demean the struggle we did to free Nigeria from military dictatorship."

"If not for the struggles we did to de-establish military dictatorship in Nigeria, people like Wike couldn’t have been local government chairman, governor, or minister today."

Sani thought back to his time as a prisoner and politician in Port Harcourt Prison and wondered where Wike had been throughout that unrest.
