According to 90min, Thomas Tuchel is 'thought to be very interested' in becoming Manchester United manager this summer if they part ways with Erik ten Hag, according to a report.

Bayern Munich announced in February that Thomas Tuchel would step down as head coach at the conclusion of the 2023/24 season, attributing their decision to 'sporting realignment.'

Despite narrowly missing out on the Bundesliga title to Bayer Leverkusen, who maintained an unbeaten record in all competitions, Bayern's journey to the semi-finals of the Champions League has bolstered Tuchel's standing as a highly regarded manager.

With speculation swirling around the managerial position at Manchester United, Tuchel has emerged as a prominent candidate.

According to reports from the Telegraph, Tuchel is reportedly eager to take on the challenge at Old Trafford should an opportunity arise.

Tuchel's previous experience in English football with Chelsea, where he guided the Blues to their second-ever Champions League triumph in 2021, adds weight to his candidacy.

However, his abrupt departure from Chelsea in September 2022, followed by the controversial decision to appoint Graham Potter as his successor, raised eyebrows in the footballing world.

Chelsea's subsequent underwhelming performance, finishing 12th in the Premier League that season, further fueled discussions about the circumstances surrounding Tuchel's departure.

Meanwhile, Erik ten Hag's tenure at Manchester United has come under intense scrutiny following the team's dismal showing in the 2023/24 season.

A devastating 4-0 defeat to Crystal Palace compounded their woes, relegating them to eighth place in the Premier League standings with less than two weeks remaining in the campaign.

The possibility of United recording their lowest finish since 1990, when they placed 13th, looms large. Their lowest position since the inception of the Premier League in 1992 was seventh during the 2013/14 season, marking a significant downturn in fortunes.

Amidst the speculation surrounding Tuchel, the Telegraph also suggests that Gareth Southgate, the current England manager, is held in high regard by United's new stakeholders, INEOS.

Southgate's positive relationship with Sir Dave Brailsford, the club's director of sport, as well as his prior collaboration with the incoming sporting director Dan Ashworth, adds another dimension to the managerial debate at Old Trafford.
