The Plateau State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has ridiculed the All Progressives Congress (APC) for holding a strategy meeting in Lafia, Nasarawa State, ahead of the 2027 elections. The PDP described the meeting as a gathering of "failed politicians" who cannot deliver their wards.
According to Alh. Mairake Yaro, the acting PDP publicity secretary, "Elections are won on Plateau soil, not in Lafia. The APC meeting was a meaningless gyration with a free lunch in the government house as the only highlight."
The PDP also questioned the APC's sudden preference for Lafia over Abuja, wondering if they have fallen out of favor with the President or if their support base is shrinking.
According to Vanguard, the party stated that the APC's tenure from 2015-2023 was the "worst nightmare" for Plateau people, leading to their overwhelming defeat in the 2023 general elections. The PDP believes the APC is poised for another defeat in 2027.
Yaro advised APC leaders to apologize to the people of Plateau State for the "wasted years" marked by stagnation and retrogression. He also offered the Azi Nyako Youth Centre in Jos for the next APC reconciliatory meeting, saying Governor Caleb Mutfwang's leadership is driving sustainable development and improving lives.
