A significant political rift between Governor Siminanayi Fubara and his mentor, Nyesom Wike, has escalated in Rivers State. According to political analyst, Okocha, Wike is determined to protect his political legacy in the state, which he believes is being dismantled by Fubara.

Wike has publicly stated that he is not seeking favors from Fubara but is concerned about the destruction of the political structure that enabled Fubara's election. The feud has led to an attempted impeachment of Governor Fubara by the Rivers State Assembly, which he survived.

Recently, the Court of Appeal in Abuja ruled in favor of the lawmakers, dismissing a restraining order from a Rivers High Court. Okocha emphasized the importance of adhering to the judgment, stating that it stands as the law of the land unless overturned by the Supreme Court.

In Okocha own words, "The former governor has said, ‘I am not asking you for anything. I am only saying that you are destroying the structure that produced you.’ This ongoing rift has seen Governor Fubara survive an impeachment attempt by the Martin Amaewhule-led Rivers Assembly. Nonetheless, Wike remains determined to uphold his political influence in Rivers State.
