In recent developments along the Thika-Murang’a Highway, tragedy struck early Saturday morning, claiming the lives of four individuals in a horrific collision near Kabati.
The incident, reported by Citizen TV, unfolded when a private vehicle, allegedly operated by a drunk driver, veered recklessly into another vehicle.
This initial impact caused the second vehicle to overturn into oncoming traffic, colliding with a high-speed bus.
Authorities, led by Murang’a police commander Mathiu Kaingi, swiftly responded to the scene.
Regrettably, one victim perished immediately, while the remaining three succumbed to their injuries at Thika Hospital. Kaingi emphasised the urgent launch of a comprehensive investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
He stressed the imperative of apprehending all traffic violators potentially responsible for the accident.
"We are actively pursuing those responsible," Kaingi stated. ""It's important for people to follow traffic rules carefully because carelessness puts other road users at risk."
This sad event highlights the increasing worry about road safety in Kenya as more accidents threaten public safety.
