Chief Edwin Clark, leader of the Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF) has raised concerns regarding the relationship between the Federal Ministry of Justice and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). He urged for a return to the model established during Nuhu Ribadu's tenure as EFCC Chairman, where the agency operated independently.

In a video recently shared on YouTube by Arise TV, Chief Clark criticized former Minister of Justice and ex-Attorney General of the Federation, Malami for allegedly exerting undue influence over the EFCC, leading to concerns about accountability and mismanagement of assets seized by the commission. He alleged that Malami sold some of the assets such as ships in Lagos and Port Harcourt without proper accountability, and yet he still ended up marrying former President Buhari's daughter

In Clark's words: "Malami sold ships in Port Harcourt and Lagos that nobody could account for, at the end he married former President Buhari's daughter. That is the country we belong to"
