Reno Omokri right, I didn't build any school as Anambra governor - Peter Obi

Peter Obi, the candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 presidential election on Wednesday agreed that he did not build any new school when he was the governor of Anambra State as asserted by social media personality and influencer, Reno Omokri.

Omokri had in the past few days challenged supporters of Obi, popularly known as Obidients on social media to identify one school that was built by the Labour Party presidential candidate when he was governor of Anambra.

Omokri also offered to give 10,000 dollars as a reward to anyone who could show a school built by Obi when he was governor. The social media influencer was trying to prove that despite all the hype by his supporters, Peter Obi was a non performer as governor. Supporters of Peter Obi has been unable to mention one school built by the former Anambra governor.

Truck kills pedestrian in Ogun

A road crash involving two cement-laden trucks and a tricycle that occurred at the Tollgate junction along the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway late Monday claimed the life of a pedestrian while two others were injured.

The spokesperson for the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency, Babatunde Akinbiyi, confirmed the accident in a telephone conversation with our correspondent on Tuesday.

Akinbiyi told PUNCH Metro that the accident involved two cement-laden trucks and a tricycle. The trucks, one unregistered SINO truck and a HOWO truck with number plate GSW 180 XA, had collided with a tricycle with number plate KLE 876 WZ, leading to a further collision with a yet-to-be-identified pedestrian.

Kaduna Assembly Begins Probe Of Ex-Gov El-Rufai

The Kaduna State House of Assembly has launched an investigation into the financial dealings of the state under the administration of former Governor Nasir el-Rufai.

The inquiry will scrutinise transactions from May 29, 2015, to May 29, 2023, focusing on loans, financial transactions, contractual liabilities, and other relevant matters. In a formal communication to the Commissioner of Finance, Barr. Sakinatu Hassan Idris, Clerk to the Legislature, outlined the scope of the probe.

“The Kaduna State House of Assembly at its One Hundred and Fiftieth (150th) Sitting on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, resolved and constituted an Ad-Hoc Committee to investigate Loans, Financial Transactions, Contractual Liabilities & Other Related Matters of The Government of Kaduna State from 29th May, 2015 to 29 May, 2023,” the letter stated.

Rainstorm: Ogun promises restoration of power supply in Ado-Odo/Ota

The Ogun State Government said it was in touch with the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company to ensure the immediate fixing of poles damaged as a result of the rainstorm during Sunday’s downpour in some parts of Sango in Ado Odo/Ota Local Government Area of the state.

The rainstorm affected over 30 communities such as lyana lyesi, Osuke Town, Egan Road, lyana Ilogbo, Ijagba, Itele, Lafenwa, Singer, Joju, Alishiba, Oju Ore, Tollgate, Eledi, Akeja, Abebi, Osi Round About, Ota Town, Ota Industrial Estate, among others.

The government, in a statement signed by the Special Adviser on Media, Kayode Akinmade, however, said that a team from the state government was at the affected areas on Monday to ascertain the extent of damage and to know how to engage with IBEDC, as well as sympathising with victims.
