Benson Enikuomehin, the Former Special Assistant to the Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, has stated that the Constitution of Ondo prohibits the current governor of Ondo State, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, from contesting for the position of Governor of Ondo State for a second term if he wins the seat in the forthcoming election.

Benson Enikuomehin made this statement during an interview with a journalist on Arise Television. During the interview, Benson Enikuomehin said, "the law states that after you complete the term of a former governor, you can only run one term. The Constitution was amended in 2018."

"If he (Aiyedatiwa) is to contest for this coming election, he will only rule for four years. For us in Ondo South, Ondo Central under Mimiko ruled for eight years. Ondo North under Akeredolu had seven years. When it comes to the South, we are to have our years." According to Benson Enikuomehin, Aiyedatiwa will be ineligible to run for the office of governor if he wins the 2024 Ondo State gubernatorial election.
