Ruto Opens up on Selling Part of Kenya to Arabs as Dubai Company Makes Serious Claim

opera.com 2 days ago

President William Ruto has spoken out about charges that his government gave up a chunk of the country's land to an Arab corporation.

He claims that the country has not sold a single inch of its territory to a Dubai-based carbon credit corporation.

This followed allegations that the government, through the State Department of Environment and Climate Change, reached an agreement with Blue Carbon three weeks ago.

It is said that the government has agreed to give the company millions of hectares for the generation of carbon credits.

However, Ruto has refuted the charges, claiming that his administration is working on a new carbon credits fee to help offset the expense of supporting adaption initiatives.

"As I speak with you, the regulations are on their way to Parliament. We were able to revise the law, and if you recall, I signed the new modifications to the new law approximately a month and a half ago," the Head of State told the Daily Nation in an exclusive interview.

However, in a statement, the corporation verified the existence of the arrangement, even naming several of those engaged in its signature.
