Manchester United is preparing to say goodbye to Shola Shoretire, a talented Nigerian attacking midfielder born in Newcastle. Shoretire made history as the club's youngest ever player in a European match at 17 years and 23 days, and also held the record for the highest squad number (74) in a competitive men's first-team fixture.

Shoretire's contract expires today, June 30, and although he has been offered new terms, he is among nine players leaving the club, including Anthony Martial, Raphael Varane, and Brandon Williams.

Despite being a standout performer in the development squad and winning the Premier League 2 Goal of the Season, Shoretire has not made a single first-team appearance under Erik ten Hag.

The 20-year-old has been with Manchester United for over a decade, joining from various youth clubs in Newcastle. His departure marks the end of an era for the young player who showed great promise but ultimately didn't break into the first team.
