Crusoe Osagie, the Special Adviser on Media Projects to Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State, voiced strong criticism towards the local chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Sunday, accusing them of employing diversionary tactics and leveling unfounded accusations against the governor in anticipation of the upcoming September 21 election.

According to a report by Punch, the Edo APC, led by acting Chairman Jarret Tenebe, alleged significant corruption within Obaseki's administration and called for an investigation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) into various high-ranking state government officials.

Tenebe stated that the EFCC had already summoned certain officials and urged the anti-graft agency to swiftly complete its probe.

Moreover, he claimed that Obaseki's move to shift the state administration towards a paperless system was merely a strategy to eliminate documentation related to dubious contracts, purportedly orchestrated by Ugo, the individual overseeing e-governance.

Tenebe also raised concerns about the N28 billion expenditure on a luxury hotel project, contending that the hotel was already 85 percent finished before the government took over from its original owner.

In response, Osagie condemned the APC's press conference as an attempt to mislead the people of Edo State, asserting that the party had caused significant hardship for Nigerians and was using these allegations as a smokescreen to divert attention from its own shortcomings.
