Roberto Landi, a former coach of the Liberian national team and goalkeeping coach for the US national team in the 1990 and 1994 World Cups, has revealed that top managers like Massimiliano Allegri and several Serie A coaches have a strong desire to lead the Super Eagles.

In an interview with The Punch, Landi expressed his own interest in the vacant Super Eagles coaching position, citing the team's prestige, passionate fanbase, and talented player pool as major attractions. He believes that managing the Super Eagles is a dream opportunity for any coach, and even established managers like Allegri would find it hard to resist.

"Yes, it's a dream for a coach to train a top senior national team like Nigeria," Landi said. "The passion of the Nigerian fans and the talent pool are undeniable. Even Massimiliano Allegri and some Serie A coaches would not reject the opportunity."

Landi's statement highlights the allure of the Super Eagles coaching position, which has attracted interest from several top coaches following the departure of Finidi George. The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) is seeking a foreign coach to lead the team to success in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers and beyond.

With Landi's expression of interest and the rumored consideration of other top coaches like Herve Renard and Antonio Conceicao, the NFF has a wealth of options to choose from. The eventual appointment is expected to be a significant boost to the team's fortunes, as the Super Eagles aim to reclaim their spot as a dominant force in African football.
