Makinde Commends Security for Foiling Yoruba Nation Agitators' Attempt to Take Over Oyo Secretariat

Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has praised security operatives in the state for their swift action in preventing an alleged attempt by individuals suspected to be Yoruba Nation agitators to seize control of the government secretariat. The governor's commendation came during his reception of the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 2 Mechanised Division, Odogbo Barracks, Ibadan, Major-General Obinna Onubogu, on Monday.

Present at the event were notable personalities including the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Olanike Adeyemo; Chief of Staff to the governor, Hon. Segun Ogunwuyi; Special Adviser on Security to the governor, CP Fatai Owoseni (retd); Director-General of Operation Burst, Col. James Ajibola (retd); and the Director-General of Amotekun Corps, Col. Olayinka Olayanju (retd).

According to a report from Daily Post, individuals claiming to be Yoruba Nation agitators had attempted to storm the secretariat on Saturday with the aim of taking over the state House of Assembly.

During his address while receiving the GOC, Governor Makinde commended the security operatives for their prompt response, emphasizing that the emergency security response system was activated and effectively managed to contain the situation in a timely manner.
