The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has revealed the process for selecting a new head coach for the Super Eagles, according to top officials. Despite initially considering local coaches, the NFF has decided to hire a foreign coach to lead the team.
According to ScoreNigeria, the NFF technical committee has already conducted extensive research and has shortlisted five foreign coaches from a record 50 applications. The shortlisted candidates include Antonio Conceicao, Didier Six, and Bruno Fernandez.
The selection process will involve a thorough review of the shortlisted candidates' credentials, coaching philosophy, and experience. The NFF executive committee will then present their recommendation to the Sports Minister, John Enoh, for final approval.
The appointment is expected to be made before the 2025 AFCON qualifiers begin in September. The new coach will be tasked with turning around the team's fortunes after a disappointing performance in recent qualifiers.
