The primary objective of the meeting is to address regional concerns and tackle pressing issues affecting the South-South region, including energy, security, agricultural funding, and youth empowerment, among others.

Chris Nehikhare, Edo State Commissioner for Communication and Orientation, verified that the meeting, chaired by Governor Obaseki, the incumbent chairman of the council, will be attended by governors from Bayelsa, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, Cross River, and Delta States.

Nehikhare remarked, "The BRACED Commission Governor’s Council, comprising the governors of Bayelsa, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, Cross River, Edo, and Delta States, will convene on Tuesday in Yenagoa, Bayelsa state."

"The agenda will cover crucial issues affecting the region, including security and the power situation in the South-South, as well as discussions on agricultural financing and empowerment of youths and women in the region."

He stressed the meeting's importance in reinvigorating and strengthening the BRACED Commission, which was established in 2009 subsequent to the inaugural South-South Economic Summit in Calabar, Cross River State.
