Former Senator Shehu Sani emphasized that combining the votes of Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi would have surpassed those received by Bola Tinubu in the recent election results.

In an interview with The Sun, Sani argued that the collective tally of Atiku's 6.7 million and Obi's 6.1 million votes would have outstripped Tinubu's 8 million votes. He further underscored that including votes from another candidate and his party, the NNPP, would strengthen this assertion.

Sani pointed out what he viewed as a critical misstep by the People's Democratic Party (PDP). He contended that the primary error was not the loss of support from certain governors, often referred to as the G5, but rather the absence of Peter Obi on the ticket.

He implied that a stronger vice presidential candidate from the PDP could have altered the election outcome.

He pointed out that if one were to consider Tinubu's eight million votes alongside Atiku's 6.7 million and Obi's 6.1 million, those figures were sufficient to surpass Tinubu's total.

Sani's remarks have ignited discussions regarding the strategic decisions made by political parties during elections and the potential impact of a united opposition.

The discourse continues as analysts and political observers analyze the election strategies and their outcomes.

As per The Sun, He remarked, "If you look at Tinubu’s eight million votes, if you put Atiku’s 6.7 and Obi’s 6.1, the two votes were enough to defeat Tinubu," Sani said. "And if you add that of one point something of the NNPP, it is even far beyond. So, the greatest mistake of the PDP was the loss of Peter Obi, not the G5."
