Thousands of protesters took to the streets in different parts of the country on Tuesday to pile more pressure on the government to address their issues that are affecting them. Protesters filled the streets with Nairobi county, Kisumu county, Migori as well as Mombasa county.

In Mombasa county, thousands of protesters turned out in their large numbers, especially in the Central Business District. The protests which were very peaceful snaked in different parts of Mombasa town including the streets leading to Mombasa State House.

Police who were keeping vigil and manning the state house were forced to block the anti-government protesters who wanted to access the state house. They were turned away and asked to protest in different parts of Mombasa town since State House was a protected area.

This comes after the government deployed heavy security including the Kenya Defence Forces to protect key government infrastructure as well as back up the police in containing the protesters who were overwhelming security officers.

A week ago, protesters managed to overpower police officers and stormed into the National Assembly where they set fire on part of it. The protesters also managed to get away with parliament mace and also destroyed properties worth millions of shilling.

While addressing the media, President William Samoei Ruto slammed the goons who infiltrated the peaceful protests and vandalized goods worth millions of shillings. He also declared that the security agencies will work tirelessly and bring all those who attacked parliament buildings and caused damage as well as looted goods.
