Edo Government Gives Ex-Deputy Gov, Philip Shaibu Seven Days To Return 22 Official Vehicles

The Edo State government, has issued a public notice demanding the return of 22 official government vehicles currently in the possession of former Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu.

The directive in a statement signed by Chris Osa Nehikhare, Hon. Commissioner of Communication and Orientation, sets a strict deadline for compliance.

"The former Deputy Governor is given a seven-day ultimatum from today to return the vehicles," stated Commissioner Nehikhare. He emphasised that failing to do so would prompt action from relevant security agencies tasked with retrieval.

The list of vehicles to be returned, includes various models such as the 2021 model Toyota Landcruiser, Toyota Prado Jeep, Toyota Hilux Van, Toyota Corolla, Toyota Sienna, Jin Bei Hiase, Mitsubishi Pajero, and an armored Toyota Land Cruiser Jeep.

Couple arrested for running baby factory in Imo

Chukwudinma Umunnakwe and Comfort Umunnakwe, a couple from Imo State, have been arrested for allegedly operating a baby factory under the guise of an orphanage.

The suspects, who manage Comfort Orphanage Home in Owerri, were presented to the public at the Imo State police command headquarters on Sunday.

Henry Okoye, the spokesman for the Imo State police command, stated on Tuesday, July 2, that the arrest was made possible through an intelligence report received by the operatives.

“The suspects have confessed to being in the criminal activity for over 12 years and will be arraigned in court upon completion of the investigation.

No hiding place for drug barons — Marwa

The Chairman, National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, (NDLEA), retired Brig.-Gen. Buba Marwa, has said that there was no hiding place for drug barons and their mules in the country.

Marwa said this while reacting to the conviction of a Delhi, Indian-Bound drug trafficker, Charles Ogbonna, who bagged 25 years imprisonment for vomiting and excreting 80 wraps of cocaine.

A statement by the NDLEA , Director Media and Advocacy, Mr Femi Babafemi, on Tuesday in Abuja, said that the judgment was delivered three months after Ogbonna’s arrest.

The News Agency of Nigeria, (NAN), reports that the convict was arrested by NDLEA operatives at the screening point of Terminal 2 of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, (MMIA) Ikeja Lagos.

Presidential Amnesty Programme, NDRBDA to partner on food security

The Presidential Amnesty Programm, PAP, and the Niger Delta River Basin Development Authority, NDRBDA, have agreed to partner on a food security project aimed at boosting massive agricultural activities to tackle food scarcity in the region.

The food security project was initiated by NDRBDA.

The two federal agencies reached the understanding, when the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the NDRBDA, Prince Ebitimi Amgbare, visited the PAP Administrator, Dr Dennis Otuaro, in his office in Abuja on Monday.

Speaking during the visit, Otuaro assured Amgbare of the PAP’s readiness to support the project titled, ‘Food Security is the Real Security’, saying that the Niger Delta was endowed with a fertile soil and an attractive farming climate for sustainable food production and entrepreneurship in the region.
