The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has criticized Peter Gregory Obi and others who oppose the purchase of new presidential jets for President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima.

According to MURIC, new presidential jets would bring "humongous economic benefits" to Nigeria, enabling the president and vice president to attend international events and attract investment confidence. The group urged the National Assembly to ignore Obi's "rantings" and proceed with the purchase to avoid a "national calamity."

"We have had enough of the president and vice president flying 'molue' buses," MURIC said in a statement. "The old jets can be sold to reduce the cost of new ones."

According to Arise Television, Obi had described the move as "unacceptable" and "insensitive" to Nigerians' suffering, according to Premium Times. However, MURIC believes the new jets would boost Nigeria's image and attract economic benefits.

"The National Assembly should ignore the rantings of Peter Obi and his co-travelers," MURIC said. "Nigeria should go ahead and buy new presidential jets to avoid a national calamity."
