The Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, reacted to journalist Laila Johnson-Salami's question on his authority to release the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) that was allowed by the Federal Ministry of Environment before the demolition of Landmark Beach.

In a video that went viral on ARISE NEWS' official X handle, the journalist argued that the Ministry of Environment needs to approve the EIA before any demolition can happen.

Although, she did wonder if the minister could actually release the authorized EIA from the Ministry of the Environment. "The Federal Ministry of Environment must approve the EIA prior to the start of any project, unless an exemption has been granted," the speaker noted, referencing the EIA 1992.

Has an exemption been granted? How about you fax us a copy of the first green light? Would you mind informing the news about it, please? But Umahi said he had the green light and that everything was in order when the journalist asked him to do so.

"All requirements are being met," Umahi announced. The federal government is usually the one to provide the go-ahead. We got the green light, and everything is in order.
