According to the report from the Vanguard, the grand civic reception for His Excellency, Senator Adolf Wabara, GCON, to mark his confirmation as chairman of the board of trustees (BOT) of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) and his 76th birthday.

During the ceremony, Damagun praised Senator Wabara as a trailblazer, whose experience had positively influenced the leadership of the party. Reflecting on the past dominance of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) in the South East, Damagun expressed confidence that those who had left the party would soon return, enabling the PDP to regain control of the region.

However, it was Alex Otti who made the most impactful statement. He declared, "Senator Wabara is a good man," a sentiment that resonated deeply with the audience. Otti continued, addressing the PDP, "You did not make a mistake in choosing him. He is a good man and not tribalistic. He knows the difference between good and evil."

When it was Wabara's turn to speak, he was visibly moved by the accolades, smiling warmly as he soaked in the praise. He expressed his gratitude for the reception and the honor, promising to uphold the values and principles of the party.

Wabara's speech was introspective, anticipatory, declaratory, and promissory. Reflecting on the current state of the party, he stated, "As we gather here today, it is imperative that we reflect on the journey that has brought us to this moment and the path that lies ahead. The South East has been a bastion of support for the PDP, and it is incumbent on us to ensure that we continue to build upon this strong foundation for the progress and prosperity of our people."

Acknowledging the party's internal challenges, the former Senate President, known for his candor, remarked, "I am acutely aware that our party is not without its internal challenges."

However, he quickly added a note of optimism: "We must strive for reconciliation and unity among all warring parties at every level of the party. Division only weakens the party, while unity empowers us to achieve our common goals and aspirations."

Wabara called for a new era of unity and harmony within the party, emphasizing, "At this period where the APC government has caused untold hardship to the citizenry, our party remains the only institution with the structure, resources, and capacity to return this country to its glory days."

The event marked a significant moment of reflection and hope for the PDP, with Senator Wabara pledging to continue fostering unity and progress for the party and the people of Abia State.
