APC Urges Fubara to Lift Perpetual Injunction Before Probing Wike

According to Punch, The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State has given its backing to Governor Siminalayi Fubara's plan to investigate his predecessor, Nyesom Wike. However, the party has urged the governor to first vacate the perpetual injunction secured by former governor, Dr. Peter Odili, which restrains the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) from investigating the state's finances.

According to Chief Tony Okocha, Chairman of the Rivers State APC Caretaker Committee, "I fully support investigations or probes. If I finish my term, my office is open, and my successors can check my records and prosecute if necessary. I don't have immunity."

Okocha questions how Governor Fubara, who was part of the previous administration, can probe others without being investigated himself. He suggests that vacating the perpetual injunction would allow a neutral body like the EFCC to investigate all individuals, including Governor Fubara, once he leaves office.

The APC chairman emphasizes that a neutral body like the EFCC should investigate all individuals, including Governor Fubara, once he leaves office. He advises the governor to start the investigation but first vacate the perpetual injunction to ensure a fair and impartial probe.
