Ondo APC Primary: Aiyedatiwa Applauds Members’ Turnout

The Ondo State Governor, Mr Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has expressed satisfaction over the turnouts of party members who turned out to participate in the choice of their preferred aspirant in the governorship primary of the All Progressives Congress in the state.

In the primary, held on Saturday, across the 203 wards and 18 local government areas of the state, no fewer than 16 aspirants participated in the exercise.

They include Aiyedatiwa, Chief Olusola Oke, SAN, Wale Akinterinwa, Diran Iyantan, Dayo Faduyile, Gbenga Edema, Jimi Odimayo and Jimoh Ibrahim.

Others are, Olamide Ohunyeye, Diran Iyantan, Ife Oyedele, Soji Ehinlawo, Funmilayo Waheed-Adekojo, Morayo Lebi and Funke Omogoroye.

The Osun State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress has accused Governor Ademola Adeleke of engaging in deceitful acts by professing Islam and Christianity at the same time.

The party also alleged that bags of rice received from the federal government by the state government as palliative to cushion the effects of fuel subsidy removal were being re-branded to the Osun State Government to deceive the general public.

The party which made the allegations in two separate releases signed by APC chairman in the state, Tajudeen Lawal, said Adeleke was breaching a vital part of the Constitution by presenting himself as both Muslim and Christian.

Abia Govt extends ban on substandard schools

The Abia State Ministry of Education, Umuahia, has directed schools in the state to resume on Monday, next week, for the 2023/2024 third term academic session.

A statement signed by Mr Ikechuckwu Oriuwa, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, directed teachers in the state to resume at their duty posts as strict monitorings would be carried out to ensure effective teaching and learning.

The statement enjoined parents to release their children and wards.

However, the Ministry made it clear that schools that were sealed in the state for failing standard tests would remain sealed as they are not permitted to resume.

The Abia State Government had in November 2023 sealed 197 private schools for not meeting the required minimum standard requirements.

Oke, Edema, Others Condemn Conduct Of Ondo APC Primary, Demand Fresh Excercise

Two aspirants and the agents of two other contestants have raised concerns about the conduct of the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary for the Ondo governorship elections.

They allege that based on the conduct of the exercise, plans are being made to favour certain aspirants.

‘Let them Postpone it’

One of the 16 aspirants in the race for the APC ticket, Olugbenga Edema, decried delays in the distribution of materials and called on the party to investigate the process.

“What we are talking about is there should be a credible election that will allow our people to vote and their votes should count,” he said.

“So we are asking the leadership of the party to look into this. If they are not ready for this election, let them postpone it so that the right thing should be done.”
