The Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ola Olukoyede, has reaffirmed his commitment to fighting economic and financial crimes, as well as other acts of corruption. Speaking at the EFCC headquarters in Abuja during a visit from representatives of the National Association of Nigerian Students, Olukoyede assured that the commission would persist in its efforts.

"It is a collective responsibility to fight corruption in Nigeria," Olukoyede said. "EFCC will not relent. Whatever it costs us to fight this fight, we will fight it."

He emphasized the importance of accountability for leaders at all levels of government, noting that holding public office is a position of trust. "When you finish your term, come and explain how you spent our common wealth," he asserted.

Olukoyede urged Nigerian youth to support the EFCC's mission, encouraging them to become foot soldiers in the anti-corruption crusade. He expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for the Students Loans Scheme, promising that the EFCC would ensure its effective implementation.

Addressing threats from a shadowy group planning to invade EFCC offices, Olukoyede suggested they were sponsored by individuals under investigation. "There shall be no sacred cows in the anti-corruption fight," he declared, adding that everyone would have their day in court.

Regarding recent operations in Akure and Lagos, Olukoyede clarified that the majority of suspects arrested were indicted for involvement in internet fraud. He encouraged students to avoid anti-social behaviors and adopt a reform-minded approach.
