A popular Nigerian former Senator, Human Rights Activist, Shehu Sani has urged the National Assembly to give Ndi-Igbo more States.
The 56-years-old former Senator while reacting to a Bill currently in the National Assembly urged the law making legislative house in Nigeria to consider creating more states in the southeast to ensure balance in the polity.
According to Shehu Sani, giving Igbos more states will only ensure equity and justice in the Nigerian political setting.
Sani went further to say that the 5 states in the southeast is not enough for the people of that region.
He said, “In reference to the Bill before the National Assembly,creating another state in the South East is fair and just”
This post has so far generated a lot of reactions from many social media users. While the majority is of the view that Ndi-Igbo deserve more states to catch up with other regions, there are however some persons that feels that the problem of the southeast cannot be solved by giving them more states.
