According to Metro, Gary Neville has cautiously offered his prediction for England's Euro 2024 semi-final clash against the Netherlands, highlighting the challenges and the optimism surrounding Gareth Southgate's team as they aim for a spot in the final.

England secured their place in the semi-finals with a tense penalty shootout victory over Switzerland, following a 1-1 draw after extra time. Bukayo Saka's equalizer ensured England remained in contention after Breel Embolo had given Switzerland the lead in the 75th minute. The subsequent penalty shootout saw England convert all their spot-kicks while Switzerland faltered, allowing England to progress.

Reflecting on the upcoming semi-final against the Netherlands in Dortmund, Neville described it as a "proper game" and acknowledged that facing strong opponents is inevitable at this stage of the competition. Despite England's journey to the semi-finals being less than straightforward, Neville hinted at a sense of destiny favoring England, saying, "Honestly, I think there’s an element of what’s happening in this tournament that makes you think it’s written in the stars."

Neville noted the challenges ahead, stating, "England’s route so far has been pretty favorable. This is a step-up but you’d expect that in a semi-final." His cautious optimism was echoed by former England defender Joleon Lescott, who expressed confidence in England's ability to overcome the Netherlands, buoyed perhaps by their recent success in penalty shootouts.

In the other semi-final, France and Spain will face off after defeating Portugal and Germany in their respective quarter-final matches. The stage is set for intense competition as the remaining teams vie for a place in the Euro 2024 final, to be held on Sunday.

The anticipation builds as England prepares to meet the Netherlands, with fans and analysts alike eager to see if Southgate's team can continue their resilient journey and secure a place in the championship match.
