The President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo worldwide, Chief Emmanuel Iwanyanwu, has reiterated the need for Nigeria's restructuring, citing historical examples to support his argument.

According to the report by The Sun, Iwanyanwu said that the call for restructuring is not new and should not be misconstrued as a request for secession.

He traced the agitation for restructuring back to pre-independence times, when the North opted out of the proposed amalgamation of Northern and Southern protectorates.

Speaking during the exclusive interview with The Sun, Iwanyanwu noted that Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe and other nationalists convinced the North to embrace a united Nigeria.

He also referenced Adaka Boro, who demanded restructuring and secession in the Niger Delta due to marginalization.

Iwanyanwu made comparisons with these historical events and the recent agitation by Nnamdi Kanu, Sunday Igboho, and other Nigerians.

He said that Sunday Igboho who also agitated for the creation of Oduduwa Republic has been released and is now a free man, and questioned why Nnamdi Kanu's case should be different.

He said, "Think of the man Sunday Igboho who declared Oduduwa, is he not walking free now? What was his reasons? He said that Nigeria should either be made to give all Nigerians a sense of belonging or have them leave. So, why is Nnamdi sounding so different and difficult to understand?"

He said that the call for restructuring is a demand for equity, justice, and a sense of belonging.

The Ohanaeze leader expressed optimism that Nigerians are beginning to recognize the need for restructuring, which he believes is possible under the current administration.
