A group known as The Natives have staged a demonstration in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory, in support of the President-elect, Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The group said that Tinubu won the February 25th election, and that the mandate was not stolen.

While speaking to newsmen, the leader of the group, Smart Edwards said that Nigerians should not allow what happened on June 12th, 1993, to repeat itself. He said that it was wrong for the vice presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Datti Baba-Ahmed, to say that the country has no President-elect.

In the report which was made by The Cable, Edwards said that the Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, won Lagos State during the election against Bola Tinubu whom he described as the landlord, and described it as democracy.

He said that the elections are now over, and that everyone who is hurt by the outcome of the election should be patriotic and give peace a chance.

He said - "We call on everybody, whether the young people who are hurt or the APC who are also hurt, or PDP who are hurt, or LP, NNPP and others to allow peace to reign and be patriotic. The elections are over, but the elections are still in court, please give Nigeria a chance to grow. In Benue, APC has a Reverend Father who won the election overwhelmingly against the incumbent, that's democracy. We saw Peter Obi win an election in Lagos State against the landlord, that's democracy."
