A powerful APC politician and lawmaker from Lagos State, Honourable Jubreel Abdulkareem, has shared his thoughts on the events leading up to the city's presidential election. Instead of crediting the Labour Party alone for the APC's triumph, he places the blame on internal party struggle. He elaborated by saying that the first election's dismal showing in the public vote was due to party He asserted that, upon understanding the need of preserving internal unity, the party officials wasted no time in gathering to resolve disagreements and address issues. He emphasised that the party's ability to resolve its disputes and regain momentum would be revealed by the results of the upcoming election. The Labour Party's candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, was able to attract young people and urbanites who were sick of Nigerian politics during the 2023 election campaign.

He gathered the most votes in the commercial heart of Lagos State, the biggest metropolis in Africa. Obi, of the Labour Party, received 582,454 votes, which was a hair more than Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The Sun quoted him as saying, "In my opinion, internal conflicts within the APC are what ultimately led to the victory of the Labour Party in the Lagos election." People were unhappy with the situation because it was the first election. However, upon realising the situation, we had to begin anew and ensure that we had acted appropriately.
