Reactions As SERAP Says If BAT Didn't Remove Cybersecurity Levy Within 48hrs, They'll Meet In Court

There have been several reactions from social media users after the Socio Economic Rights And Accountability Projects, SERAP said if the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu fails to withdraw cybersecurity levy imposed on Nigerians, they will meet in court.

This statement was contained in a post that was shared on the official X handle of SERAP on Tuesday.

In the post that the group shared on its page, it was stated that the CBN directive to implement section 44 of the Cybercrime Act 2024, which imposes a 0.5% 'cybersecurity levy' on Nigerians is unlawful. SERAP however, warned President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to withdraw the directive or else face court actions.

SERAP wrote;

"The Tinubu administration must immediately withdraw the grossly unlawful CBN directive to implement section 44 of the Cybercrime Act 2024, which imposes a 0.5% 'cybersecurity levy' on Nigerians. We will see in court if the directive is not withdrawn within 48 hours".
