As the September 21 governorship election in Edo State approaches, Oyakhilome Bello, campaign coordinator of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Governorship Council in the United States, has issued a heartfelt appeal to voters.

PUNCH reports that in a statement released on Friday, Bello urged voters not to compromise their conscience for financial incentives amidst the prevailing economic challenges in Nigeria.

The upcoming election has highlighted three prominent contenders: Senator Monday Okpebholo of the APC, Asue Ighodalo representing the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and Olumide Akpata of the Labour Party. Bello emphasized the importance of making a principled choice, advocating for Okpebholo as a candidate deeply rooted in the community.

Acknowledging the economic hardships faced nationwide, Bello underscored the necessity for voters to prioritize integrity and vision over temporary financial gains. He lamented the deteriorating state of infrastructure in Edo State, attributing it to past governance shortcomings. Bello expressed confidence in Okpebholo and his running mate, Dennis Idahosa, presenting them as agents of positive change poised to elevate the state to new heights.

Bello's statement resonated with a call to action, urging Edo residents to participate actively in the electoral process and cast their votes for candidates committed to upholding the rule of law and improving governance. He highlighted Okpebholo's proposed five-point agenda as a blueprint for transformative leadership, promising comprehensive reforms across key sectors.

Bello appealed to voters not to succumb to political manipulation or empty promises but to choose wisely for the future of Edo State. He expressed optimism that, if elected, Okpebholo and Idahosa would exceed expectations and steer Edo towards prosperity and global recognition.
