A 50-year-old dad, Abubakar Nuhu who was arrested in Bauchi State for chaining and starving his 5-year-old son, Hussaini Abubakar for three days have confessed why he committed the act.

According to Daily Post, five-year-old Hussaini was rescued by the Nigerian police in the Gwallagan Mayaka area of Bauchi Metropolis where he was chained and kept in a room by his father. The victim was rescued after some concerned neighbors reported the incident to the police.

According to a statement released by the Bauchi State Command Spokesman, SP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, the suspect, Abubakar Nuhu confessed during interrogation that he committed the act because of his son's alleged habit of stealing.

According to Nuhu, he chained up his son and starved him for three days to prevent him from stealing valuables from their neighbors, and he did so base on advice from a friend.

The state PPRO further revealed that the Commissioner of Police had instructed the DPO to transfer the case to the State CID for further investigation on Nuhu's motive behind such crime.
