Panic and hope cut short as anxiety roams among President William Ruto's government state officers following the austerity measures that he announced during the press briefing in State House, Nairobi on July 5, 2024.

The measures has severaly impacted the 47 State corporations Chief Executive Officers who will remain jobless as their junior staffs are also going to remain in the darkness over their job security despite Ruto's promise that they would be absorbed in their line ministries.

The President said that the move aims at reducing the operational cost incurred in running those 47 State Corporations

which has duplication of duties within the ministries.

The offices of the first lady and second lady will also not be funded by the government. This is a blow to the occupants and staffs that were employed in those offices. Ruto directed the suspension of government funding of the offices following the public uproar.

The suspension of the appointment of the 50 Cabinet Assistant Secretaries also made the appointees who have waited for the past 16 months to get to enjoy the pay, end their hope and focus on other opportunities.

Reduction of the government advisors by 50 per cent is also another key area of panic as the number of the staffs will be reduced by half rendering them jobless.

The much anticipated Cabinet reshuffling with speculations that Ruto will drop seven Cabinet Secretaries positions and merge them with other ministries did not take place. He therefore told the youths that he will consider other more changes shortly. This is likely to takes place as it also caused anxiety among the Ruto's Cabinet following the last supper photo session.
