Zuma's daughter Duduzile to represent South Africa in Pan-African Parliament

The African Parliament also known as the Pan-African Parliament (PAP), is the legislative body of the African Union. It was started in 2004, and had its sitting on the March 2024. The headquarters of Pan-African Parliament were initially in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, but were later moved to Midrand, in South Africa. South Africa as a member of African Union, let its National Assembly to elect representatives from political parties to participate in the parliament.

From African National Congress (ANC) the National Assembly has elected Mdumiseni Ntuli, from Democratic Alliance (DA) they have elected Mergan Chetty. From the newly formed uMkhontho weSizwe Party (MK), which is now the third biggest party in the country Duduzile Zuma-Sambudla was elected. The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) will be represented by Vuyani Pambo. The election of Zuma-Sambudla who is the daughter of former president Jacob Zuma, shows that politics runs in the veins of Zuma family. MK members congratulated Duduzile, as they celebrate their novice participation in the parliament.

All this four candidates who are mainly youth, will represent the country 's youth in the Pan-African Parliament. The PAP is set up to ensure the full participation of African peoples in the economic development and integration of the continent. It brings the youth and adults from different countries across the continent, with the common goal of improving the lives of Africans.


The election of the candidates comes after South Africa held national elections on 29 May 2024. The PAP exercises oversight, and has advisory and consultative powers, having lasting for the first five years.
