Three young boys were tragically found dead in their home at Ga-Mothiba village outside Polokwane in Limpopo. Provincial police spokesperson Malesela Ledwaba reported that the boys had used a braai stand with fire coals to keep warm during the night.

Ledwaba explained that the lifeless bodies were discovered by family members early on Friday, July 5, 2024. "At around 05:00, the family noticed that the boys were motionless. They immediately alerted the police and EMS personnel. The boys were certified dead at the scene."

In response to the incident, the Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, issued a stern warning to the community about the dangers of using braziers in enclosed spaces during the winter. She emphasized that inhaling fumes from braziers and other similar fires can be deadly.

"This incident serves as a tragic reminder of the risks associated with using open fires indoors for warmth," Hadebe stated. "We urge the community to find safer alternatives to stay warm during the cold season to prevent such heartbreaking incidents in the future."

The investigation into the boys' deaths is ongoing, and authorities continue to urge the public to exercise caution and prioritize safety to avoid similar tragedies.
