'Nilitoka Mbio' MP Narrates How He Escaped The Wrath of Gen Z Protestors During Parliament Invasion

Kimilili member of parliament Didmus Barasa on Saturday narrated how he escaped from parliament buildings on Tuesday, June 25, when the protesters invaded the premises during their protests against the finance bill 2024.

The MP who was elected through the UDA party is among those who were vocal in support of the finance bill and voted Yes during voting in parliament.

On the fateful day, protestors breached Parliament security and made their way in. Several protesters were shot during the ordeal.

As they stormed parliament, they caused damage to properties and it is estimated millions of properties were destroyed.

As the protestors approached, the lawmakers were forced to flee to safety. It is reported that some ran to the basement park of parliament buildings while others ran to bunge towers through the underground tunnels.

Some lawmakers who were at KICC were airlifted to safety.

Speaking during the burial of one of the young men who were felled by police bullets during the parliament invasion, Didmus Barasa said thr youthful protestors recognised him when they stormed Parliament due to the beret he loves wearing.

Amidst laugher from the mourners, the Kimilili MP stated that he ran so fast to bunge towers where he sought refuge to save himself from the wrath of the protesters.

"I was behind other MPs but I was the first one to arrive at bunge towers. I saw death with my own eyes," the MP narrated.
