The tragic death of 12-year-old Kennedy Onyango during protests in Ongata Rongai has left his family in deep distress, compounded by a legal battle over his burial.

Kennedy was fatally shot amid protests against a proposed Finance Bill, reportedly by a criminal who had seized a police officer's gun and fired recklessly.

Kennedy's mother, Josinter Anyango, has been overwhelmed by grief, pleading tearfully in a video for President William Ruto's intervention to allow her son's burial.

She described President Ruto as having immense power in Kenya, second only to God, and appealed to him to help bring her son back for a proper farewell.

The court's involvement stems from a dispute regarding the burial location. Denis Okinyi, claiming to be Kennedy's father, asserts his right to bury his son in Suba, his ancestral home.

Okinyi, who separated from Anyango in 2015, expressed frustration at not being able to see his son's body since the tragic incident.

"I have not seen my son since I heard that he died. I also want to see him so that I can confirm if he is dead," Okinyi stated.

The conflict over Kennedy's final resting place has intensified the family's anguish. While Josinter Anyango desperately seeks closure through her son's burial, legal proceedings continue to delay the process.

Kennedy's body currently rests in a mortuary in Mbita, awaiting resolution of the dispute.

The heartbreaking plea from Josinter Anyango shows the human toll of such legal disputes in times of profound grief.

As the family navigates through this painful ordeal, they hope for a swift and compassionate resolution that will allow them to lay Kennedy to rest with the dignity and respect he deserves.

In the midst of this sorrowful saga, the community and activists have rallied to support the family, emphasizing the need for empathy and swift legal action to bring closure to Kennedy's loved ones.
