Gauteng's MEC for Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs, Lebogang Maile, has publicly criticized the Democratic Alliance (DA) over their conduct during negotiations for a government of provincial unity.

The Gauteng MEC for Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs Lebogang Maile slammed the Democratic Alliance

In a press briefing held on July 1, Maile expressed his dissatisfaction with the DA's behavior, labeling them as "spoilt brats" and accusing them of complicating the negotiation process. The announcement of Gauteng's new provincial government, led by Premier Panyaza Lesufi, was postponed for the second time, prompting Maile's remarks.

Maile accused the DA of attempting to negotiate on behalf of other political parties and trying to exert control over the provincial government. He emphasized that the African National Congress (ANC) had invited the DA to participate in the government of provincial unity, but their attitude during the negotiations had been obstructive.

In a video posted by @MDNnewss on X, Maile addressed the media, highlighting the DA's uncooperative stance. He stated, "The DA is making it difficult for parties to negotiate for a government of provincial unity. They are behaving like spoilt brats."

The delay in the announcement of the provincial government has stirred discussions among South Africans, with mixed reactions to Maile's comments. While some supported his criticism of the DA, others condemned his approach.

One social media user, Son of the soil, commented, "This is how the DA must be treated."

The Premier's office has yet to announce a new date for the cabinet's unveiling, leaving the province in a state of anticipation.
