The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) in Gauteng have expressed their reservations regarding the newly announced provincial executive by Premier Panyaza Lesufi. While welcoming the announcement, the EFF Gauteng branch criticized the appointments, arguing that the individuals selected for key portfolios lack the necessary qualifications and track record for effective governance.

Nkululeko Dunga, EFF Gauteng Chairperson, articulated the party's concerns, highlighting that Lesufi's cabinet reshuffle involved moving officials who had underperformed in their previous roles to new positions. According to Dunga, this strategy does not inspire confidence in the provincial government's ability to deliver on its mandates.

"The EFF in Gauteng welcomes the announcement of the provincial executive; however, we are deeply concerned that the right people have not been appointed to their respective portfolios," said Dunga. "Premier Lesufi has repositioned individuals who have demonstrated poor performance in their previous posts. There is little reason to believe that they will excel in their new assignments."

The EFF's critique centers on the perceived ineffectiveness of the appointees, suggesting that their prior track records should disqualify them from being entrusted with new responsibilities. The party believes that this approach undermines the potential for substantial progress in addressing the province's pressing issues.

"The reshuffling of incompetent individuals does not solve the underlying problems; it merely relocates the inefficiency," Dunga continued. "We need leaders who have proven their capability and commitment to service delivery, not those who have failed to meet expectations."

This sentiment reflects broader concerns within the EFF about governance and accountability. The party has consistently called for merit-based appointments to ensure that only the most qualified individuals are selected for public office. In their view, this is essential for driving effective policy implementation and improving the lives of Gauteng residents.

Despite their reservations, the EFF has pledged to monitor the performance of the newly appointed officials closely. The party intends to hold the provincial government accountable and ensure that the interests of the people of Gauteng are prioritized.

In conclusion, while the EFF acknowledges the formal announcement of the provincial executive, they remain skeptical about the efficacy of the new appointments. The party urges Premier Lesufi to reconsider his choices and to prioritize competency and proven performance in future decisions to enhance governance in Gauteng.
