Youthful senator, Edwin Sifuna who had become a dallying for many youths when they were protesting against the Finance Bill of 2024 has today found himself in a tight corner after the gen zs made a U-Turn against him after voting for a new bill in the senate that allows for elected leaders and their families to trade with the government.
Sifuna was among the 25 Senators who voted for the Conflict of Interest Bill of 2023 which sought to amend or delete some sections of the bill to allow for the elected leaders to trade with the government.
The youths had called them out for voting for such a controversial bill and Sifuna has now come out to defend himself.
Taking to his x account, he has accused the Ethics and Anti corruption Commission of orchestrating the scheme to put a disdain on the Senators.
He says that the EACC is sensationalising the Senate Amendment Bill to cover for their failures promising that he would in due cause amendments they made one by one to all Kenyans.
"Ndio kutoka misa naona mnanitafuta. Outrage is good lakini can we agree that it needs to be informed outrage. The EACC is over sensationalizing the Senate Amendments to cover their own failures. The law in Kenya still gives the commission power to prosecute anyone for conflict. I’ll find time to explain the amendments we voted for. One by one." Sifuna said
