Checkout Why Lions Don't Attack People In A Safari Vehicle

We have come across several incidents in the past were wild animals have attacked people and vehicles that pass too close to them through the road that cuts through the forest. In most cases, people narrowly escape from the attack but, there have been many incidents, where people were injured due to animal attacks. While we have heard many such incidents, we have rarely come across such incidents in a jungle safari park. In many African countries, there are wildlife safari parks and people use open jeeps to get closer to the wildlife there.

Lions are natural predators. In the wild, they must hunt for their food, and this is why they are usually at the top of the food chain.

While it can be difficult to think of these beautiful creatures as hunters, this is part of nature, and ultimately part of the great circle of life.

Why Lions Do Not Attack Tourists While On Jeep

If you are visiting any African countries where lions reside, it is likely that you will want to do a game tour to see these creatures in their natural habitat.

But you might be anxious about the chance of a lion attacking you during this tour.

The lions do not attack tourists on jeeps is because of the predator-prey instincts that keep lions alive in the wild. While a single human being isn't seen as a predator to a lion, and instead is seen as something they could easily attack, the same cannot be said for a jeep.

Reflect on the size and shape of a safari vehicle. It’s somewhat alien to what a lion usually comes across, correct? Imagine a colossal metal tortoise on wheels in the lion’s territory. The unusual, bulky structure of this safari vehicle represents an alien silhouette in midst of the lion’s domain. It doesn’t resemble a delectable gazelle, nor the shape of a menacing competitor. Instead, it’s a unique entity, an anomaly in the otherwise familiar sights of the savannah. This strangeness doesn’t instigate the lion’s inborn hunting…

Usually, lions do not perceive humans as prey. But their reaction can be heavily influenced by the behavior of the encountered human being. If a human is walking or running alone, is in a vulnerable position, these big cats may understand this as a sign of prey.

Also note that lions that are injured or old may behave irrationally. It is difficult for them to get food, and attacking humans may be done out of desperation to survive.

In any circumstances, do not remain in areas populated by lions without qualified supervisors.

The primary factor preventing lions from attacking tourists in jeeps is their natural predator-prey behaviour.

A lion perceives a single human as something it can easily attack rather than as a predator, but the same cannot be said of a jeep.Simply because of their size, lions typically view any four-wheeled vehicle as a threat.

But because of their size, jeeps are perceived as even greater threats.

Given that a jeep can accommodate more people than a lone lion and that jeeps are significantly larger than lions, it is understandable why lions view jeeps as a threat.

Furthermore, just because they do not frequently approach jeepneys, lions do not usually attack tourists riding in them.
