'Ugly' Kenyans React as Govt Unveils New Ceremonial Kits for Paris 2024 Olympics

On Friday, President William Ruto presented a team representing Kenya at the Paris 2024 Olympics with the official ceremonial kit.

Dressed in their stylish Olympic kits, the team visited State House where Ruto also handed them the Kenyan flag.

However, a section of Kenyans are unhappy with the new kit. Taking to various social media platforms, Kenyans expressed their disappointment at the new kits.

Majority of netizens termed the kits as ugly while others accused the government of embarrassing the athletes by dressing them in ugly kits. Others said Sports Cabinet Secretary Ababu Namwamba should be fired for allegedly embarrassing and Humiliating athletes.

"Embarrassing & humiliating to the athletes.bNot fair. Ababu should be fired," a Kenyan on X said.

"Shame on you Ababu Namwamba what nonsense is this?" a netizen posed.

"Embarrassment. We can do better than this," another Kenyan on X commented.

"Not inspiring. Can’t even sell as merchandise," another X user commented.

"Mediocre as everything in Kenya," another Kenyan trashed the kit.

Former Kenya rugby player Dennis Ombachi also joined other Kenyans in trashing the new kit, terming it mediocre. He said dressing Kenyan athletes in such kits is demeaning.

"We can export our culture without demeaning our athletes, I have been here and I know how they feel putting on this mediocrity," Ombachi shared on X.
