Damian Marley ‘stole’ my weed – Seun Kuti

Nigerian afrobeat singer, Seun Kuti, has recounted his first meeting with Jamaican reggae star, Damian Marley.

He disclosed that he first met Marley at a festival in France years ago, where the reggae artist “stole” his weed.

Speaking in a recent interview with Naija FM, Lagos, Kuti explained that he gave Marley the weed to smoke and pass back to him, but he “chanced” him after lighting it.

“Damian Marley and I first met at a festival in South France. It was at the beginning of my career. He also had just released his sophomore breakthrough album, ‘Welcome To Jamrock’.

Two suspects arrested for car theft in Ogun

The Ogun State Police Command, has recovered a black Nissan Pathfinder Jeep, which had been converted into a pickup van by its owner from two suspected car thieves, Adebayo Abosede and Modupe Obadimu, in the Lafenwa area of the state.

A police source privy to the report of the stolen vehicle, said the car was taken away from the compound of Lukman Otesile on Abiola Way in Abeokuta, the state capital, on Saturday.

Our correspondent learnt that Otesile, had earlier been entrusted with the car with number plate SL 842 AAA by its owner.

The state police spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, confirmed on Tuesday that the vehicle had been recovered and the suspects had been detained.

Benue PDP congresses: Vote for credible candidates – Moro

The Senate Minority Leader, Senator Abba Moro, has appealed to members of the Benue South Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to vote for credible candidates, during the forthcoming congresses of the party.

He admonished them to avoid dwelling on issues that divide them and instead embrace peace and unity within the party.

Moro gave the charge on Sunday, during the PDP zonal meeting at Leach Hotel, Otukpo, Benue State.

He said, “If we are genuine and sincere to ourselves, we must ponder over what will unite and bring us together. We are not here to ponder over who is going to be the next Senator, House of Representatives, etc. Let’s put our past behind us and strategize for a better future.

Abducted travellers on Sagamu-Ijebu-Ode expressway regain freedom

The Ogun State Police Command, on Wednesday, said that four abducted travellers on the Sagamu-Ijebu-Ode expressway on Sunday, have regained freedom.

The Spokesman for the state command, SP Omolola Odutola, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday.

Odutola said, those rescued along Ogere axis of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway by the anti-kidnapping team of the state police command included one Mr Ola, and three Indian nationals.

She said, “One Mr Ola, Pujan, and two other Indians names yet unknown, have regained their freedom along Ogere inward Lagos Ibadan expressway. Efforts ongoing to arrest the fleeing suspects”.
