Kenyans have angrily reacted after President William Ruto said that a 12-year-old boy who was shot eight times during anti-Finance Bill protests was alive.

During a roundtable meeting with journalists on Sunday night, Citizen TV's Linus Kaikai asked President Ruto what he was going to tell the mother of Kennedy Onyango, a young boy from Rongai who was reportedly shot eight times by the police.

However, Ruto's answer to the question did not impress Kenyans at all. The President seemed unaware of what happened to the boy, initially asking if the young boy was still alive.

"He is still alive right?" the president asked before Kaikai informed him that the boy had actually died.

Kenyans who were not impressed with the president's answer quickly took to various social media platforms to register their anger.

Kenyans accused Ruto of being heartless and showing no remorse for what happened to the young boy. Some celebrities also joined other netizens in expressing their displeasure with Ruto's government.

“That boy is alive right? the coldest phrase I’ve heard tonight," comedian Hamo The Professor lamented.

"If audacity was a person. Zero remorse? I'm speechless," celebrated Kenyan singer-songwriter Wahu Kagwi commented.

"The kid is dead, he doesn’t even know, he didn’t even care enough to find out," another Kenyan on X angrily reacted.

"Heartless. He should show some empathy and remorse. Seeking to explain is not ideal in the moment," another netizen reacted.

"The man is heartless and his conscience is dead," another Kenyan lamented.

"He's joking. No remorse whatsoever. He's very inhumane," a Kenyan on X angrily reacted.
