South Africa is preparing for a significant weather event as the South African Weather Service (SAWS) warns of an intense cold front set to impact the western and central regions starting this Sunday. This cold front marks the beginning of a series of weather systems expected to affect the country.

According to SAWS, the cold front will move eastward, affecting the eastern parts of the country by Monday. Snowfall is anticipated over the southern and western high ground, accompanied by damaging winds across the interior and coastline. Maximum temperatures in some areas are forecasted not to exceed 10°C, with temperatures dropping even further over the high ground, possibly not exceeding 4°C.

Residents across South Africa are advised to prepare for bitterly cold conditions, particularly on Monday, as the cold front progresses. SAWS further indicated that the cold front is expected to recede from the country by Tuesday morning, only to be followed by another approaching the Western Cape.

This seasonal weather event underscores the need for residents to take necessary precautions against the anticipated cold temperatures and adverse weather conditions. Stay updated with local weather advisories and heed any official warnings issued by SAWS to ensure safety during this period.
