The Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) in Masaba North Sub-branch has pledged unwavering support for Junior Secondary School (JSS) teachers who faced disciplinary action for participating in a strike. Joseph Arasa, the Executive Secretary for Masaba North Sub-county, affirmed KNUT's commitment to advocate for the reinstatement of teachers penalized by the Teachers Service Commission (TSC).

Arasa noted that a significant number of JSS teachers, out of more than 10,700, were removed from the TSC payroll due to their involvement in the strike. He emphasized that while some teachers who showed remorse have returned to work, others are now seeking KNUT's assistance after refusing to apologize despite being warned about the consequences.

Speaking at a retirement ceremony for a teacher named Nyakoe at Eronge DEB Primary School in Kitutu Masaba Constituency, Arasa criticized the interference of denominations in teacher postings. He highlighted that government-trained teachers are qualified to teach in any school irrespective of religious affiliation, urging school sponsors to focus on spiritual guidance rather than influencing administrative decisions.

Arasa urged teachers to uphold exemplary conduct throughout their careers, leaving a lasting impact even after retirement. He underscored KNUT's stance against denominational interference in educational affairs, emphasizing the professional mandate of government-trained teachers to serve in schools without prejudice based on religious affiliations or location.
