The Premier in the Executive Council of Gauteng and ANC Provincial Chairperson Panyaza Lesufi, announced his provincial MECs with a statement saying "Don't kill Chris Hani again". The statement was clearly written on his Black T-shirt, with the logos of the South African Communist Party (SACP) and the African National Congress (ANC).

The Gauteng Premier was adressing the media, after his party failed to reach an agreement with Democratic Alliance (DA) yesterday. The DA opted to take the opposition seat, and Lesufi continued with the Government of Provincial Unity (GPU). Gauteng is now the only province without DA, after the ANC formed GNU nationaly with DA, and it also in GPU with DA and IFP in Kwa Zulu Natal.

Lesufi finally announced his GPU cabinet after two postponements due to deadlocked negotiations with the DA. He formed the cabinet with Inkata Freedom Party (IFP), Patriotic Alliance (PA) and Rise Mzansi. Defending the party 's decision Lesufi said “We will defend what Chris Hani stood for but you go to negotiations and have other political parties that their mission is to kill the ANC their mission is to eliminate the ANC that will never happen”

Lesufi believes there are some political parties in the GNU, that wants to undermine the ANC. He said “Some of this organisations still glorify an apartheid flag, some of the organisation's that still wants Orania but we said for the sake of our citizens we will dust ourselves and try to form a government of national unity”

In the Northern Cape the leader of Freedom Front Plus Dr Pieter Groenewald, said they will work with ANC if the party recognizes the independence of Orania. Groenewald has been appointed as Minister of Justice by president Cyril Ramaphosa.
