A 20-year-old female suspect is set to appear before the Mankweng Magistrate's Court in connection with a shocking case of murder and attempted murder. The incident occurred at Moremadi Park on Wednesday, July 3, around 18:45.

According to Mankweng Police, they received a distress call regarding a violent altercation in a residential area. Officers rushed to the scene where they encountered a male foreign national who directed them to a horrifying discovery: a three-year-old child lying on a bed with a severe wound to the upper body.

Emergency Medical Services (EMS) were summoned, but tragically, the child was pronounced dead upon their arrival. Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect, a 20-year-old woman, had been involved in a fight with the 24-year-old mother of the deceased child. The mother is the wife of the male foreign national who contacted the police.

During the altercation, the suspect, who is also alleged to be the girlfriend of the male foreign national, struck the three-year-old child with a spade, resulting in the child's death.

Following this, the suspect further assaulted the child's mother by pouring boiling water on her, causing severe burn injuries. The mother was transported to a local hospital for medical treatment.

The suspect was promptly arrested and is now facing charges of murder and attempted murder. She will be appearing in the Mankweng Magistrate's Court to answer for her actions.
