Northlands City is an ambitious real estate project being set up in an 11,576 Acres of Land in Ruiru, Kiambu County, near Nairobi-Kenya (about 20 KMs from Nairobi CBD) For context purpose, 11,576 Acres is equivalent to about 47 Sq. KMs when completed, the Northlands City by area will be almost equivalent to Roysambu Constituency (Roysambu is a Constituency in Nairobi)

The City is projected to be a mixed-use estate comprising residential, industrial, and commercial units. Based on the City's Master Plan, about 3,570 Acres have been set aside for housing; of which, 3,134 Acres are set aside for low density housing, 306 acres for high density housing, 130 acres for medium density residential housing. The City is planned to house 250,000 people; and assuming its a stand alone City, it would currently be the 9th largest in Kenya by population

Besides the housing, the City is expected to have a Business District sitting on 390 acres of land. Of the above 390 acres, 33 acres are earmarked for a shopping mall and a hotel and 2 acres for a clubhouse. An additional 695 acres have been set aside for construction of an industrial park

The plan for the City is being implemented over 4 phases that will run for nearly 50 years. Phase One of the Northlands City is currently under progress with some infrastructure underway. The land where the city is being set up is owned by the Kenyatta Family and is currently occupied by Brookside, and Gicheha Farm.
